Mensagem: | I can't help agreeing with Pat. Miguel is always talking about English speaking as a matter of status, or social class. Maybe in Cabo Verde speaking English is a big deal and those who can do it are looked up by the others as some kind of gods or something. But I guess that in Brazil a person who speaks English is just a person who speaks English. Miguel says he's been living in the US for some years now. I don't know why he is so proud of his command on the language. He is living and studying there for years, for crying outloud!!! |
