A break or pause takes place BETWEEN activities, sessions, classes, etc. and NOT BEFORE or AFTER.

Continental breakfasts are NOT limited to hotels and can be found on many restaurant menus. It is a simple meal: coffee or tea, a pastry of some kind, and possibly a juice. Perhaps a piece of fruit is available. Do not expect waffles, sunny side up eggs, etc. If you wanted a normal breakfast, you should have eaten something at home. A continental breakfast is just enough to keep you from starving to death before lunch.
