Usually, these are wonderful things such having honest elections, winning a prize despite adverstiy, breaking a record, inventing something never seen before, etc.

2013 was a year of many firsts for me. I ran a mile in three minutes twenty five seconds.  I invented an artificial liver.  It was the first time I had seen the Amazon.  I sold my first book to a publisher.  I got married for the first (and last) time.  I piloted a twin engine airplane.  (And so forth.)
