For the Brazilian learner of English, an LLLC provides the unique opportunity to interact with foreigners and develop their linguistic abilities without the need to travel abroad. For the foreign learner, an LLLC provides accommodations, training, and a Brazilian language and culture program that includes Portuguese lessons and weekend cultural trips.<\/p>\n

LLLCs are authentic environments of the target language and culture. At this age, the auditory and articulatory systems are unsurpassed. The child has a unique ability to hear and reproduce accurately the language they are exposed to. The contact with native speakers provides the necessary input to enrich the child’s ability to pronounce the sounds of both languages without any interference. Teaching Approach<\/h2>\n

We are not confined to any single method, plan, or course of lessons and books, but promote language and culture exchange through human interaction instead.<\/p>\n

We favor language acquisition rather than language learning, as defined by Stephen Krashen in his Natural Approach<\/a>. This approach is especially suitable for Brazilian learners, who are naturally very communicative and curious about foreign cultures. As opposed to some Asian countries, Brazilians’ desire to communicate is normally stronger than the fear of making mistakes and “losing face”.<\/p>\n
