wouldn´t THATbe what you meant to say, PPaulo? And man, I teach at a regular school in which those who don´t study are completely outcast. The culture in our environment (even for English) is studying pretty hard otherwise they doon´t pass my exams, let alone the entrance exams. The school backs me up and I demand and feel fulfilled with the very best from each of them. I think it all starts the way we teachers see the discipline and teaching. we ourselves lack the ability or will to be stricter when we should. Bear in mind I´m talking about high school here, okay? Not language acquisition w/ the four integrated skills in small groups, which is a different ball game. I believe that in such classes keeping stds. motivated by exposing them to real-life situations and personalized content must be the key. |
