Galinha choca is a "brood hen", taking into account that it´s a hen that is incubating her eggs, but in Brazil they say that a "galinha choca" is also the one with little chicks. At least during the time she is cranky when someone or some animal (a dog for example) walks near her little ones, she is going to open her wings and run to the fight, not thinking in danger! Well, just like any mother in nature, or almost any mother. In English there´s an saying that says "mad as a wet hen", I would say "mad as a brood hen". Could be worse, if a hen had the size of a cow; just try to go near a calf! PP. |
